The iconic LEGO® brand is celebrating its 80th birthday this year. Its a testament to ingenuity and a product that has fueled the imaginations of children around the world in their quest for creativity. As part of the anniversary celebrations, Lego made a “short” (their word, not mine) video telling the story of the last 80 years.
As much as I like Lego and even this video, I think it has a little too much formality to it. Too many words that sound like they were written by the ad agency instead of a simple man who runs the company.
But that is a minor flaw in an otherwise well done bit of storytelling. I enjoyed learning the background of Lego, especially learning that the first LEGOLAND was opened in 1968! I also think the video serves as a quality advertisement. If people can connect with your brand, you are building a relationship and that is more valuable than simply selling a product.
What do you think of the video?
